Rainer Family Tree - News. Page 2

September 2006

I am indebted to a 3rd cousin of mine, Nick Bilton, for being able to add a new branch to my family tree and for sending me photographs and birth certificate relating to Arthur George Whitehead (my 1st cousin twice removed). We share the same Great Great Grandparents in Benjamin Whitehead & Elizabeth Leech. This branch of the family can be found on the Everyone Chart, and also in the Names listings - Click here.

October 2006

Having been in contact with a very nice and helpful lady who is part of the One Name Study of Tror(e)y, I have been able to add many more names to my tree. Sarah Margaret Townshend Trorey is my Great Great Grandmother and the names added are her relatives.

January 2007

After many weeks I have finally finished upgrading my web site.  Now included is a new and improved photo album section. Also, every single name is now individually listed. There is a number of other minor improvements too.

All information that was on  my web site relating to my maternal family (McIntyre family tree) has now been included on here.

February 2007

In the Photo’s page I’ve now included Churches and Graves that are relevant to my family tree.  I will be adding to these photo’s over the coming months.

March 2007

I was delighted to receive a photograph of distant relative, William J Whitehead and his family, which I have added to the appropriate photo album. Click here.

To add more genealogy content, under the “News” menu I have now include the latest from the National Archives.

I have, as the panel on the Home Page describes, begun to include BMD (Birth, Marriage, and Death) information for the name Rainer. It’s not my intention to turn this website into a one-name study, but as the name Rainer is relatively unusual, and consequently there is not an excessive amount of data to enter, I decided It would be a useful addition to include on my website.

April 2007

I’ve now included what census information I have that is relative to this website. This can be found by clicking on Census in the menu bar. I have also completed the birth section of Rainer - BMD, as described in the panel on my Home Page.

I recently heard from a distant cousin who is also tracing his family tree. We are related through my 2x great aunt, Euphemia McIntyre, this being on the maternal side of my family. His website can be found at www.oakley-village.co.uk

May 2007

I’ve been on holiday onboard Aurora, cruising around the Mediterranean and Adriatic oceans, taking in Venice amongst other places. So I’m a little behind with any updates this month. Will catch up next month. Favourite website this month: P&O Cruises

10 June 2007

I had planned on updating this section of my website every month. But what with being away on holiday, followed by a terminal malfunction of my computer, and the delay in new one being delivered - and then not having Internet access because nothing I had was compatible with Windows Vista! - I’ve decided it would be far easier to update as and when there is something new to enter, regardless of  whatever the date maybe. So do please call back regularly.

After considerable research I found these to be excellent value for money, and well worth a look.

15 July 2007

I have now finished transcribing births and deaths for the name Rainer.

Births cover the period from 1837 to 1937. I realize that some of the people listed here could still be living, but as none of them are identified as being relatives of mine I felt justified in including them.  Deaths cover the period from 1837 to 2005.

2 Sept 2007

A Possible Link - On the maternal side of my family I have traced back as far as my 2x great grandfather, Robert McIntyre c1803-1836. Transcripts of the parish records for St Helens in Abingdon tell me that he died in 1836 aged 33. But this is the last McIntyre I can find in the records. Knowing the tradition of this period in time for naming your first born after your parents I looked at Robert’s first two children, Euphemia & Robert and did a search of the IGI index on http://www.familysearch.org. This produced the name Robert McIntire christened on 6 Nov. 1803 in Kilconquhar, Fife, Scotland, to the parents Robert McIntire and Euphan (sic) Campbell. A further search showed Robert McIntire married Euphemia Campbell on 13 Feb 1803 in Cupar, Fife, Scotland. Obviously this is a tentative link, but I also think a very feasible one. So I have placed this information on here in the hope that someone at sometime maybe able to offer up further information about these two people.

4 Nov 2007

I’ve been spending a lot of my time recently working on this website, upgrading the Photo’s section.

My next task is to update the Names section. I currently use a program within a program - GEDmill - but to make any alterations to the Names means I have to completely remove and then re-install said program, which is very time-consuming. So I’m going to remove this altogether and enter all the names manually. This may take a while, but once it’s completed it will make future entries much easier and quicker to add.

14 Jan 2008

I have updated the Everyone chart and also the Ancestors chart. The Index of Names has also been brought up to date, and all the individual pages for the Names have been tidied up.

My next task is to complete the Marriages in the BMD index for the name Rainer.

After that I hope to start on my ever expanding To-Do list in my family tree program.

2 April 2008

I have finally completed the BMD index for the name Rainer. Please see panel on Home Page.
